BON VIVANT EVENT: Fete de Saint Aubin Etait Excellent
On March 1,2002 forty-eight Bon Vivant-ers gathered for a "FUN-raising" time at the Kenmore Inn. Adopting the tradition of our friends in France [where every day honors a saint] we celebrated Saint Aubin's Day with an evening of excellent food, wine and friendship.
What is a Bon Vivant Event? Several years ago many FSCA members acknowledged that an evening of excellent food and wine spent with friends is the excelsior of the "good life"....and whereas this tradition is frequently practiced by our friends in France.... it behooved our organization to honor these dear friends with periodic events we choose to call "Bon Vivant"
Highlight of the evening was the honor bestowed upon Cathy Bolinger as La Pepperier.
The tradition of "Pepperier" at a Bon Vivant Event began at the Olde Mudd Tavern on May 1, 1988. Having adopted the idea from Tavern Owner, Allen Vitatius, A. C. Whitley created a medallion and then knighted himself as the first Pepperier. The honor was passed to Garrett Garner at an Event on February 2000. HRH Pepperier Garner relinquished the honor to Michel Herbiet from Frejus, France on February 24, 2001. It was not possible for HRH Herbiet to join us on this evening. Fortunately the electronic age afforded him the opportunity to view the guest list in advance and he choose Mrs. Bolinger to continue this tradition to the utmost.
Congratulations Cathy Bolinger-Her Royal Highness La Grande Pepperier
We say "Merci Beaucoup" to the Kenmore Inn for their warm welcome and the arrangements they made to make the evening so very special and to Julie Sturt, Classic Custom Framing, for donating the door prize - an exquisitly framed print by a French Artist named after Saint Aubin. Congratulations to Phyllis Lamont, winner of the door prize.
