Plans are coming together for the visit of friends arriving from Frejus on July 17th. We will have nine students and four adults with us until July 29th. In addition to the events planned for the group and their host families there are events planned for the entire membership. Please call Phyllis Whitley at for details of the welcoming reception and the farewell party. A Bon Vivant Event - dinner and a show at Riverside is planned for adults.Please contact Rebecca Bowery at regarding details of the Bon Vivant and for a reservation form. *** BLUEMONT CONCERT FUND RAISER - AUGUST 17TH ***

We will have the concession stand at a Bluemont Concert August 17th. It hardly seems like work when you can enjoy the concert all evening and earn money for FSCA programs. *ANNUAL GALA - OCTOBER 11 - SEEKING AUCTION ITEMS*

Mark your calendar now; Gala Coordinator, Julie Sturt confirms that our Gala will be held October 11th at Fredericksburg Square. The “Silent Auction” and “Bon bon Event” were so successful at our last gala that she plans to include them this year. Work is underway to secure items for these “auctions”. If you have something you would like to donate, please contact Julie at or during work hours. [Bon bon items valued at $5.00 - $45.00 & Silent Auction Items values are unlimited/priceless. While primarily seeking items of French origin or French related, all donations are gratefully accepted.] Remember - we are a 501(c)(3) non-profit group and your donations are tax deductible to the extent of the rules of the IRS.

*** MORE ITEMS OF INTEREST ***

The Exchange Sports group, under the direction of the Fredericksburg Parks and Recreation Department has been in Frejus since July 2nd. Reports are the 30 students and eight adults are developing memorable experiences. A note of thanks to all the local businesses and individuals who helped make this exchange possible.

Thanks to Regional Library on Caroline Street for the special Sister City display throughout June.

Special thanks to Anne Morgan Pates for her help with the publication of this newsletter.

Paula Suggs and Jane Shellhorse [Parks and Rec.] will attend the Sister Cities International Conference in Toledo, Ohio on July 18 & 19. They will be there to collect a National Award for the 2001 Fredericksburg/Frejus Sports Exchange. Both have been invited by SCI to make a presentation at a workshop on “Planning and executing a successful sports exchange”. Michel Herbiet, Frejus' Director of Fredericksburg Sister City and his wife Annette will accompany Mrs. Shellhorse and Mrs. Suggs to Toledo to receive this award. Mr. Herbiet was responsible for bringing the first sports exchange proposal from the Frejus sports teams to Fredericksburg.
